David,

It's possible to do this.  These aren't going to be real speedy
disks.  I don't know if a reload is required.  A CE will have to
run flexdiag on each array after the mechs are added.

I would check with HP to see if a reload is needed.  I would do a
full backup before adding the mechs anyway, just in case.
