Campus Community,

This message is to share additional updates since last fall's campuswide email on the University's response to the growth of Artificial Intelligence.

Access to a general-use AI platform that protects data and intellectual property is now available to faculty, students and staff. The platform, "UT Verse," is a resource furnished and shared by the UT System Office of Information Technology. A link to the platform and more information is below:

The UT Verse: Artificial Intelligence and Innovations - University of Tennessee<https://utverse.tennessee.edu/>

Faculty are encouraged to take questions of how to use this technology in their classrooms to the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning, which will offer multiple orientation and training sessions for faculty. As they are developed, the Walker Center will share the schedule for these sessions on its Canvas page <https://utchattanooga.instructure.com/courses/8652> and in the Walker Center Weekly (email that comes out at the beginning of each week).

Students should seek guidance from each of their course instructors on permitted use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The use and/or inclusion of any materials derived by a Generative AI tool is strictly prohibited unless explicit permission is granted by a course instructor. All coursework must be the student's own original work. Inclusion of proper citations, using the accepted citation style, is required per the UTC Honor Code.

Staff are encouraged to explore this innovative technology to learn more about professional topics or seek guidance related to matters they may be currently facing. It is the perfect time of year for us to be thinking about feedback and professional development. To practice using this platform, log into the UT Verse<https://utverse.tennessee.edu/> with UTCID and copy/paste in these prompts to see how it works:

  * As an employee, how can I best prepare for my upcoming performance review and solicit meaningful feedback from my manager?

  * How can I use AI as part of my workday to improve efficiency? How can I make that a part of my professional development plan?

  * What makes UTC a special place for our students?

Learn more about this and other AI-related information and projects at the new CH-AI website. If you want further information around AI, please scroll to the bottom and connect with us.
