2023 Annual Staff Performance Reviews





The 2023 annual performance review (January-December cycle) should be completed in the Online Performance Review (OPR)<http://opr.utk.edu/> system for all eligible staff members by March 31. Use of the OPR requires accurate Reporting Relationships in the OrgChart Manager system. If any direct report information is incorrect when you access the OPR, supervisors must log in to OrgChart Manager or use the IRIS Position Change E-Form (ZPPOSITION000) to update the reporting structure appropriately. Additional important reminders regarding the review process and UT System Policy HR0219 - Performance Reviews for Regular Staff Employees<https://policy.tennessee.edu/policy/hr0129-performance-reviews-for-regular-staff-employees/> are outlined below.

 



  *   Review Period: Staff employees will be evaluated based on the calendar year (January 1 through December 31, 2023).  

  *   Performance Review Deadline: Online performance reviews should be submitted through the online platform no later than March 31, 2024.  

  *   Self-Reporting of Accomplishments and Goals: Supervisors should ask employees to self-report accomplishments and progress towards goals for the 2023 calendar year using the Staff Performance Report and Development Form<https://www.utc.edu/sites/default/files/2020-05/staffperfdev125.pdf>. Information provided by the employee should be considered when completing the online performance review form. Please note, the OPR will allow employees and supervisors to propose goals for the 2024 review period.

  *   Required Signatures: Upon supervisor submission of the OPR, the form will be routed electronically for next level administrative review and approval, before releasing the OPR for employee review and signature. The employee should not digitally sign the OPR until the annual review meeting has taken place.  Once signed by the employee, the completed review will be routed back to the supervisor and next level of administration for final signatures.



  *   Leave of Absence: If an employee is on a leave of absence during the review submission period, the annual performance review process should be completed as soon as possible after the employee returns.

  *   Probationary Reviews: Employees hired after June 30 each year will only need to have a completed probationary review form on file for their annual performance review. However, departments are encouraged to meet with retained employees during their annual review period to familiarize them with the annual performance review process and to establish goals and objectives for the next calendar year.

  *   Remaining Performance Management Offerings: Opportunities for managers to join Live Zoom discussions regarding performance review best practices with members of the Office of Human Resources began in October, and the following Zoom session remains:
