We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of professional ombud services for faculty and staff here at UTC, while our search for a permanent, fulltime UTC ombud continues.

Please visit https://utc.edu/ombuds for more information, including background on what an ombud is, a link to the Ombuds Charter, and a link to schedule access to ombud services.

These interim services are available through our colleagues at UTK. We are excited about the quality and accessibility they offer, as well as the obvious familiarity that they possess with our system. You can consult the ombuds voluntarily to get help getting unstuck from challenges you may be experiencing at the university. An “ombud” or “ombuds” is an informal and confidential resource and is not part of any other reporting offices at the University (HR, Title IX, OEI, etc.). No problem is too big or too small to share with the ombuds. They can help you by listening, clarifying your goals, coaching communication strategies, making referrals, and by facilitating dialogue in mediation.

The excellent UTK ombuds staff include:

  *   Lisa Yamagata-Lynch, University Ombudsperson

  *   Brooke Wichmann, Associate Ombudsperson

  * Duren Thompson, Educational Program Coordinator

For more information go to: https://ombuds.utk.edu/our-staff/

To make an appointment, please use our UTC scheduling portal.<https://go.oncehub.com/ScheduleMeetingwithUTCOmbuds>

Of course, we also look forward to keeping you posted on the progress of our search. In the meantime, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks for all that you do!
