Frequently (depending on the application and terminal type), the
screen is not actually blanked; the VPLUS form is simply flipped up
out of sight. In fact, the error message may be "split", with part of
it in the form file's window line and part of it below the form. If
the user presses PageUp, sh/e can see the form with the error message
(or the first part of the error message). This is not a fix, but it
may be a work-around until a fix appears.
