Pardon me for yet another OT post, but I think that this one might be
relevant to some list members. As I'm floundering around two flavors of
Linux, several things occur to me. The most obvious one is that I have
almost no idea what I am doing, or I at least feel that way. I am struggling
with tasks that I regard as simple and straightforward for MPE, or any OS
with which I would claim familiarity. Consequently, I am almost embarrassed
to ask 'How do I bring up the "classic X windows" interface on Caldera
OpenLinux?', or, 'How important is the choice of groups when creating new
users, and how should I use them?', for instance.

The other thing that occurs to me is, even if I overcame my embarrassment,
and thought I could get such newbie questions answered, I would have no idea
in which forum I should ask them. When I think of newbie-friendly forums, I
think of the 3000-L. So, it occurs to me, since many of us in this forum
feel compelled to learn new things, at least some of us need to have a means
to ask such newbie questions. Now, should these go on the 3000-L at OT? If
so, do when then tag them, [Linux], [W2K], etc? Can anyone recommend
another, friendly forum in which to ask such specific questions? Or, am I
thinking about this all wrong, and should I be looking to the Interex Linux
forum to do this? Or does Interex limit us to Red Hat?
