An interesting point about currency colors: It has been proposed several
times during my lifetime (I'm 49) that our currency be given different
colors for different denominations. One of the arguments against it was
that people would become accustomed to the colors and stop looking at
the numbers, so that counterfeiters could dye one-dollar bills the same
color as tens or twenties and people would carelessly accept them without
noticing until it was too late. It's only recently that any colors
other than black and green have begun to appear on any of our banknotes.

I bet those other countries also use different size bank notes as well
as different colors. The larger valued notes are also larger sized.
This prevents a counterfeiter from bleaching a $1 and reprinting it as
a larger denomination. We have never done that here, even though it
has worked elsewhere. I suppose the merchants have gotten used to one
size and it would be too much trouble to change.
