Do you want to include MPE/V systems?  Do you care about the number ever
installed, or just how many are still in use?  Do you want to count boxes or
customers?  Are you trying to measure the use / viability of the platform,
or the market for a product?

All of these questions lead to different answers.

And you're probably not going to get very accurate numeric answers for any
of them :-)
