As terse as HP's error messages may be, they are usually right to the point
-- when you issue a "SHOWJOB" command, the last line reads something like
this:

JOBFENCE= 5; JLIMIT= 60; SLIMIT= 80

"slimit" is your session limit -- in this case it's set to 80. The 81st
person to try to log on will get a message to the effect that the session
limit has been reached and they cannot log on.

This can be changed via the LIMIT command, but there is also an underlying
limit (or two) that may be affecting this as well.

SYSGEN allows you to set a maximum session limit, and that may be the limit
you are "reaching" [the system won't stop you from setting the "session"
limit above the "maximum" you specify here, btw]

The other limit may be your physical user-license limit, which is controlled
by HP.

One thing to be aware of is that programs that open DTC ports
"programatically" count each FOPEN as a session [unless the DTC port is
configured as a printer] This is/was to prevent people doing an "end run"
around a session limit by writing their own menu program or similar that
opens each DTC port to allow (effectively) interactive access to the system
from those ports.

I'm not sure, but I recall that at some point, TELNET sessions and/or
general TCP/IP connections *may* have counted against your user license
[this is especially true for the 100mb LAN cards as opposed to the 10mb LAN
cards] (certainly, TELNET sessions that utilize a DTC for access count,
since from the point-of-view of the HP, it's just another connection from a
DTC...)
