I have a silly problem in using sendmail for the HP3000 -- the error message
is pointing out the problem, but I'm not sure of the "proper" solution :)
Basically, I have an (mpex) script that creates a message in the proper
"internet" format [header lines, a space, and the body] and runs sendmail as
follows:
run sendmail.pub.sendmail;info='-t';stdin=WORKFILE
Recently, our e-mail administrators "changed things" :( which prompted me to
change the sendmail.cf file. Now, a "normal" [non-privileged/SM] user
cannot send messages. The error message is:
/etc/sendmail.cf: line 0: cannot open: Permission denied
Obviously, editing the sendmail.cf file changed or reset permissions, I'm
just not sure what they "should" be [nor, for that matter, who the proper
"owner" of the file should be] Here is what I have:
MPEX %LISTF /etc/sendmail.cf PAGE 1
SYSTEM TOUCAN TOM.EMERSON,WORK THU, NOV 30, 2000, 8:16 AM
File Type UID Owner GID Group ID ACD
State
---------- ---- ----- ----------------- ----- -------- -- ---- ---
------------
sendmail.cf
BA 1085!MGR.SENDMAIL 153!SENDMAIL Must Wed
17:42
>ls -al /etc/sendmail.cf
-rw-rw---- 1 MGR.SENDMAIL SENDMAIL 14948 Nov 29 17:42
/etc/sendmail.cf
This "realy is" in /etc, not a symlink to somewhere in the /SENDMAIL/PUB/
hierarchy
thanks in advance for your assistance
