A "palindrome" literally means a place for a Palin to run, like a "hippodrome,"
which is a horse track. In this case the palindrome would have been the Xcel
Energy Center in St. Paul, at least before Gustav.
I was fortunate enough to get a hold of a copy of the RNC's scheduled events
for the convention this week, although this schedule may now be abandoned.
Nonetheless, you can see the original schedule at:

The Republicans are quite disappointed in this turn of events, as you can
imagine. It denies them a showcase to present their hundreds of cheering
supporters to America, especially in comparison to Obama's meager turnout at
his convention.
Nonetheless, some good may come out of all of this.
Because Sarah Palin is quite pro teaching creationism in school, John McCain is
seriously thinking about also tasking her with improving America's scientific
technical education capabilities in order to improve our global competitiveness.
I think that's quite an excellent idea, although I won't truly vote for the
McCain/Palin ticket until she fills in more details, particularly about re-
introducing the equally important theories into our classrooms on alchemy,
astrology, an Earth-centered universe, and the various flat-Earth hypotheses.
It's important that our students hear all sides of every argument, especially
when accompanied by the appropriate bits of supporting scripture.
Palin is also most avowedly pro-life, and that's a deeply-held family value as
well, which is serving her well with the less educated, deeply conservative
constituency McCain chose her for. Her 17-year-old, unmarried daughter is
also pregnant as well, although since her mother's ascension to the VP
nomination and as an accomodation to independents, she's announced that
she will now marry the father.
