I worked on an incomplete migration of a Powerhouse/Cobol application to
HPUX/Sybase. Unfortunately the project was cancelled after 3 months, but
the principle was that the migration tool supplier (Openseas) had a utility
that would run underneath our application interpreting MPE intrinsics and
Image calls and supplying the Unix or Sybase equivalents. Obviously we were
left with the problem that the application was designed for Image and was
therefore not optimised for a relational database so performance could have
been a problem. As far as I remember, the Powerhouse code was just amended
to use Sybase and most of the changes were in the dictionary.
