The problem seems to me to lie in what *business* HP thinks it is in for
*real*. Technical workstations go along very well with all the other EE stuff.

I'm fortunate to have access to HP employees who still respect and know the
hp3000, but they seem to be a dying breed. They are replaced by unix types
that sometimes know what they are doing, but they often don't have the same
respect for the end-user that MPE types always held so high. Of course, I
see the same problem with PC/Netware/Windows/NT, etc. types - only worse.
What these types see as acceptable, even "good" work, would have gotten you
fired on a HP3000 MPE system. If HP is *serious* about pursuing the renewed
interest in the HP3000 and competing with the AS/400s, etc., it will fix this
trend ASAP. BTW, I *really* like the new MPE ads.
