About 18 months ago we consolidated an HP3000 967/RX onto a 969/220 and
then donated the 967 to some school. We did have to 'scrub' the disk
drives and I used the following method:

1. Purged the desired accounts

2. Moved the remaining files to LDEV 1 and 2 (used MPEX. Restore can also
be directed to restore to specific devices)

3. Created a unique device class for each one of the remaining disk drives
(had to use Volutil).

4. Built an Image database consisting of a single master and a single
detail sets, where the capacity of the detail was large enough to occupy
the entire drive (most of the drive).

5. Purged and rebuilt the database a second time.

6. Repeated steps 4 and 5 for each of the drives.

The above scheme relies upon dbutil's functionality of initializing the
space allocated to a database to binary zeroes. I had also determined what
the capacity should be for different disk drives. I've had some difficulty
in 'locating' the schema that I had used, I'll post it when I find it.

Paul Christidis
