Rick,

please make sure that the /SAMBA/PUB/lib/smb.conf is edited with the vi ... a
similiar problem came up for another Samba/ist, and this solved his problem. It
may create problems having files like this edited by other non HFS capable
editors. I had a similiar problem in configuring IT/O OpC.

Based on my experience (but this is not vendor proven) you will have no
problems
using
* vi (Posix) or
* QEDIT (MPE) or
* PFE (PC)
* bbSat (GUI)
to edit the config file.

Best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject:  Samba/iX

I recently (yesterday) downloaded samba7c file and uncompressed it and
"untrucked" it. I ran the setup job and now I attempted the testparm
utility. It has been running for a few hours using about 90% of our 918
system. Obviously something is wrong, but where do I go with it. We changed
the config file by putting in our IP address and subnet mask, changed the
workgroup to workgroup (from Samba iX), turned off printers. Any
suggestions? Please email me directly as our company does not track
newsgroups/usergroup lists like this. Thanks in advance.
