I would suggest that the learning curve for bringing someone up to speed on
your 3000, * especially * if your system is well documented, is still less
than the learning curve for bringing someone up to speed just on your NT
environment. NT is complex, perhaps needlessly so. And I would think that
your NT admins would recognize that the amount of information specific to
your NT environment is not trivial. How long do they need before a new hire
becomes trusted to handle things correctly on their own, AND in fact does so
successfully?
Also, promise your bosses that when outdoors, you will stay more than one
bus width away from your backup.
