Hackworth's article was indeed about the past. We're supposed to learn
from the mistakes of the past. That is his premise, with which I agree.
You may not agree with some/all of his conclusions/comments. Your
prerogative. But that doesn't make me wrong, except in your perception.
The article has everything to do with the original planning of the Iraq
conflict which relied too heavily on Air Power and not heavily enough
on Ground (man & machine) Power. Fortunately, we've corrected this
boo-boo by sending more ground troops.
As far as I'm concerned, Hackworth has maintained and, indeed, enhanced
his "exemplary reputation".
