If you haven't already done it, I would unplug the new disc and run MAPPER 
again to see if you have another device already assigned to ID 4 that you may be 
covering up with the new disc plugged in. If you don't have anything assigned 
there, I can't imagine that there's any magical pre-assignment to that value 
that prevents its use.
