The first question is prompted by the following entry from the recently
mailed SupportLine Digest:
PROBLEM TEXT
Is there a TELESUP utility which will store and purge network log files?
RESOLUTION TEXT
No, there is no utility in TELESUP to store and purge network log files.
The TELESUP utility LOGSNAP works only for MPE system logfiles. The
network log files can be stored and/or purged with the :STORE command
or simply purged with the :PURGE command.
Where is there documentation on LOGSNAP? We have neither the program nor a
documentation file in TELESUP. Nor is it part of the SYSDIAG utility set.
No hits in the on-line CD-ROM documentation. What does it do?
We have a nightly routine to roll over all system and networking logfiles to
an alternate group, store and purge them. I've had no trouble restoring
these files to PUB.SYS and then using LOGTOOL to get whatever information I
need. Why would I need another utility?
Second question: We used to be able to execute LOGTOOL in a job. I have a
template job stream that any one can modify and get the syntax correct.
Since the 5.0 pull release, it does not run in batch. On-line it now
generated a bunch of error messages. For those with the 5.0 pull, have
theses two problems been addressed?
Thanks, all.
