928 with 9 GIG drives survey

We are updating our 932 to a 928. We currently have 2 -  2Gig , 1 - 4Gig
and 4 small HP-IB drives.  We want to upgrade to a 928 with 2 9Gig
drives.  I've heard that the 9Gig drives are very slow making the 928
just as slow as the 932.  Is this correct ?
For those who are on a 928 how do you like it ? Is it worth upgrading ?
