Hi Donna,

Neither device 6 nor 104 have printers attached so I guess output to lp
will never get anywhere :-(
This is Ok because i can file transfer the files and read them off-line
if desired.

We have 1 off 2934 connected to a serial port at device 111 and 2
printronix 500q's at IP addresses
<private>.181 and .178
which equates to devices 99 and 98 in npconfig.pub.sys

I tried to add an HP laserjet 2600N as device 228, on IP <private>.211
and then add device 228 to class lp2.
I hoped a 2600N would talk PCL well enough to work.
The new printer stayed at Ready and HDR, AWAITING EOD and refused to
talk.

quad
/t npconfig.pub.sys
/l all 1 99 (network_address = <private>.178
    2 tcp_port_number = 9100
    3 pjl_supported = true
    4 snmp_enabled = false
    5 jam_recovery = false
    6 data_timeout = 30 )
    7 98 (network_address = <private>.181
    8 tcp_port_number = 9100
    9 pjl_supported = true
   10 snmp_enabled = false
   11 jam_recovery = false
   12 data_timeout = 30)
<snip>
   19 228 (network_address = <private>.211
   21 pjl_supported = true
   22 snmp_enabled = false
   23 jam_recovery = false
   24 data_timeout = 30) # Despatch HP2600N

I have been digging around for some more useful information and tripped
over ioconfig's lc. This seems to suggest I have lots of printing
options but a lot of these have been removed over the decades.

ioconfig:lc

SO .. I guess I want to restart the lp2 print queue but point it
to a working printer first. I cannot use the existing printers because
they use special stationery.

PS hopefully my paragraphic email disclaimer is now properly suppressed.
