Every organization has learned to phrase their messages in the most positive
manner possible, but that tendency to deceive is especially prominent among
the right-wing groups, and it's important to properly translate what they're
saying.

----------------------

Sorry, No. This was learned from the Liberal Left.

----------------------

"Right-to-work", for example, means the right to allow workers to work
cheaply, with no protection against unfair labor practices or exploitations.

----------------------

Open mouth, remove foot, Wirt. Right to work is the right of a worker to
be employed without being compelled to join a union. The worker can still
join a union voluntarily, and thus have protection from the unfair practices
you state. Also, there are givernment laws that protect a worker even if
there is no union involved.

----------------------

"Pro-life" means the drive to force my morals on you and push abortions
back to the
back-alley, so that they can once again become a criminal activity.

----------------------

No more than forcing my morals on you prevents you from murdering an
innocent
person.

----------------------

In the conservative lexicon, a "safe and secure country" means a massive
infusion of money into the military-industrial complex, a bullying world
power
with the moral right to pre-emptively invade whomever we wish, with the
potential
suspension of civil liberties, so that no one is above suspicion,
particularly those who take dissent with current policies.

----------------------

Clearly you are talking about Franklin Roosevelt here, but wait, he wasn't
a conservative!

----------------------

Similarly, "a fair tax system" simply says that the tax burden will be
pushed
down onto the poorest fraction of the population, while the wealthiest would
be allowed to retain an ever greater percentage of their income.

----------------------

The poorest fraction of the population do not pay taxes, but rather consume
tax revenue.

----------------------

"A place where everyone has opportunity to go far as she can" means, simply
stated, "you're on your own, buddy." We have no desire to educate you, your
kids or your neighbor's kids. If you can't afford to educate yourself or
your
children, that's a moral failing on your part.

----------------------

I have heard conservatives say they want to break the Federal Stranglehold
on Education, but education started out as a state and local function, and
started to go downhill when the Feds got involved.
