That's cute Joe, but I am a little confused. What makes you believe I
am urging people to get away from the HP3000 soon?
On the contrary, I have been working quite diligently to come up with
methods and equipment to keep these magnificent machines running forever
or at least until 2027.
I have done quite a bit of research, which I have freely shared with
this list and others, on disk drive replacement and expansion. This
includes devices to attach various 3000s to the latest technology
storage devices. I have also posted numerous times about tape devices
that would help homesteaders.
Perhaps you take exception to my posting dealing with other technologies
that are available out there. I did start talking about PCI Express,
for examples. If you found that offensive, I apologize. It certainly
was not meant to be. I just thought people would like to know.
I do stand by my statement that the HP 3000 OS does not do a lot,
compared to other OS. However, that is also part of its elegance,
reliability and endurance.
