I download spoolfiles to my PC all the time. The format is well known and
if you just get rid of the first record and then the five bytes of every
line, you will have clean data to work with.

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] Hp3000 917 rx MPE 6 device / printing confusion
Hi Donna,
We do read lp spoolfiles into Excel occasionally with fair results ( not
pretty but effective ).
Regarding our printers:
Printronix 500Q x 2 ( special paperwork, cannot be re-purposed )
HP 2934A x 1 ( defective print head - goes through the motions but
prints nothing :-( )
HP2600N x lots
HP5000C x 1
HP5500 x 1
Panasonic DP-C 264 x 3
ldev 228 was pointing to an HP 2600N colour printer. I have just done -
spooler lp2;stop
abortio 228
quad npconfig.pub.sys
changed the IP for device 228 to the panasonic ( just in case, it is the
printer they really want to use )
spooler lp2;start
Stuck at
:spooler lp2;show
LDEV DEV SPSTATE QSTATE OWNERSHIP SPOOLID JOB STEP
228 00000228 ACTIVE OPENED OUT SPOOLER #O631199 HDR, WAIT FOR
EOD
We have no old jetdirect boxes around.
Regards
Tony
