I am not a network guru but nake sure to check the route things are taking?
Also do a tracert from an affected workstation and see what type of times you are seeing
Do a packet sniff - see what types of traffic and what volumne you are seeing almost sounds like a possible packet storm

We are accessing out HP3000 via telnet...out of the blue today, everything is going
very slow and getting socket errors on initiating jobs and not printing spoolfiles
all the way through and complaining of smtp errors and tcp errors.
I tried rebooting the HP3000 and it didn't make any difference. The console
is fine, so it seems as though it is a LAN issue...next thing I can try is
cycling power on all the network appliances...any idea what is happening?
