How much do you trust your electric utility? I am reasonably confident that
both 3k's and 9k's will cross into year 2000 without problems. However, I
have seen the mess that power failures can make. Particularly the
intermittent sort -- off, then on for 2 minutes, then off, then on, then off
etc.

We're being paranoid: full back up Friday evening, power off before
midnight, power on Saturday morning.
