UTC will join organizations and communities across the nation participating
in the George Washington Bicentennial celebration with a program on Friday,
April 30 at 1 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.
        Throughout the year, the country will commemorate the 200th
anniversary of Washington's death by hosting lectures, concerts,
exhibitions, parades and other events celebrating the president's legacy
and to educate people across the nation about his contributions.
        UTC's event will include music from the UTC flute trio, the UTC
Brass Quintet,and the Singing Mocs.  Remarks will be made by Dr. North
Callahan, chairman of the event and author of two books on President
Washington. UTC Chancellor Bill Stacy, Dr. Herb Burhenn, UTC philosophy and
religion department head,and John Guerry, president of the University of
Chattanooga Foundation, will also deliver brief remarks. Refreshments will
be served.
