Rachael, You asked: I'd like to understand how our customers are using Predictive/iX today in order to ensure we meet the requirements on future platforms. In particular, I'd like to know the answers to the following: o Are you using Predictive/iX today? If so, how? Yes, we rely on it to warn us of possible memory or disk drive faults. We allow our HP engineers to disable it for tape drives as tape errors cause too many false alarms. o Which devices and platforms are being monitored in your environment under Predictive/iX? HP3000 989KS400, 979KS400, 969KS120, 957RX, memory and disc drives. o Are there any features/capabilities that should be made available in future Predictive/iX versions? YES, support for the new disk drives with Seagate ID's. Example: a 979KS400 with MPE/iX 5.5 PPT 6 does not register drives with the following ID's: ST34573WC (A3353A) and ST39173WC (A5238A). Also does not register DDS-3 tape drive HPC1537A, but we can live with that. o On a scale of 1-5, how much does your environment depend on Predictive/iX (1 means you don't use it; 5 means you can't live without it)? 5555555555 Regards Fred Metcalf Neil Harvey & Associates Boundary Terraces, 1 Mariendahl Lane, Newlands, 7700, South Africa Mobile: +27-82-822-5605 E-mail: [log in to unmask] Phone: +27-21-670-9200 Fax: +27-21-670-9300
