<After John Dunlop> Hi John, I believe the references to "virtual network connection" are really to "virtual network computing", a free product from what used to be Olivetti Research Labs and is now, apparently, owned by AT&T, in Cambridge, England. I've used it from a remote site to access my PC at work, and as it establishes contact at the IP level, it is very powerfull with a great many features. I don't know how Mr. Newman has it set up, but I am fairly sure he is discussing this product. The URL for this is: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/index.html Eric Sand [log in to unmask] > Anyone, > > On 8th March 1999, Kevin Newman posted : > > >We are testing out a connectivity solution here. > > >We are using Linux, (Red Hat) - FREE > >with VNC (virtual network connection) - FREE > >and Apache - FREE > >with xhtperm - FREE > >that uses freevt3k - FREE > >to connect to our HP and push the screen to a web browser - FREE > >using a lowly 486 that was scheduled for the junk heap - FREE > > I have e-mailed Kevin with no response.
