We have 280 gig of disk in our user volume set mirrored which results in 140 gig of data. I've heard that you shouldn't have more than 80 gig per volume set otherwise you will experience performance problems and it takes longer to recover from a disk failure. We are planning to break up our volume set into 3 volume sets at HP's advice. We've had tremendous performance problems due to bottlenecks at the transaction manager. If break the data up into 3 volume sets, we will, in theory, have 3 transaction managers to share the workload. I've actually moved all files off the master disk (using MPEX) to other disks and built big empty files on the master to prevent any user files from being written to the master. Doing this improved our system response significantly. I hope it will continue to hold us over until April when money is available again! (But, I doubt it.)
