John(^2 ?);

  We hit the exact same situation; the 'default route' on our 3000 was getting
knocked down when a firewall rebooted nightly. A simple job stream streamed
shortly after the reboot occurs (which does just as John said; runs nettool
and does a gateup command) starts it right back up.
