The 100-BaseT card is configured like any other card. In NMMGR, Configuration, NS - add a link. With the proper version of MPE & Patch level, one of your choices will be 100baseT. You will need to know the path. The configuration options depend on how the Hub port is configured. I had the link originally configured for half-duplex and negotiated. I've since changed to full-duplex, non-negotiated. This change was coordinated with the "LAN/HUB" people. In either case, the 100baseT does not come up (or recover) as a gateway. I've had to add a NETTOOL statement in startup file with a GATEUP command. The other problem I have had is with router IP redirects. I have multiple gateways on both the Token-Ring and 100baseT NICS and there are additional routers on the same segment that I . Two of the gateways also share two LAN segments. This was configured to provide redundancy and if an outside link goes down, ISDN dials-up on the alternate router and the routers issue IP redirects. This has resulted in greatly confusing the HP-3000 which creates phantom gateways and loses connectivity to some destinations. As a result I've had IP redirects turned off on the routers (Cisco) and subsequently have not had those problems since. I don't see the point of redirects from the 3k perspective. If a router or interface goes down, you're SOL anyway because the 3k will not get redirects from that interface. Otherwise I prefer to point the 3k at he routers I've chosen and let the routers handle the routing. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the feature on the 3k so the router configurations don't have to be modified??? -----Original Message----- From: David Burney [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Wednesday, September 23, 1998 2:39 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: 100BaseT HP-PB configuration. Hello list members. We recently purchased a 100BaseT HP-PB card for our HP3000 967rx. Unfortunately it was purchased from a HP VAR. Which meant we didn't have the needed HP patches on tape during installation. We've since received a DAT from HP software support with the necessary patches and the card is now physically installed. All that remains is the configuration of the card. Can someone point me to a source of reliable information for this task ? A web site...the list archive...a psychic hotline number...any help and or comments will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. David Burney
