Tony had a good idea - the venue is a bit off though. Yahoo, AltaVista, and all the others put these things up to collect names and e-mail addresses, as well as other demographic information. Advertising is what keeps them in business, which is why you can get an e-mail account and webspace for free from some or all of these companies. If it's chat we want, there are a few of us who have this capability inhouse and can host it. (For example, we have both Microsoft IRC and an iChat server here - IRC is the grandaddy of internet chat and can be set up as a public IRC server - not here though - or a private IRC server. iChat is web-based chat). Unfortunately, you will not see me subscribing. I know that my information makes it to Usenet (via the gateway) - but the less my information is exposed, the better, and I really don't want Yahoo! or any of the others to know much about me. Heck, I even have "ad.doubleclick.net" and a few others in my "hosts" file listed as 127.0.0.1 so that I don't see their ads, and they don't see anything about me :) Best Regards, Joe ========================================================== Joe Geiser, Senior Partner, CSI Business Solutions, LLC ** Your Client-Server and Internetworking Specialists ** Phone: +1 (215) 945.8100 Fax: +1 (215) 943.8408 *New* Toll-Free (US/Canada): (877) 945-8100 http://www.csillc.com mailto:[log in to unmask] ========================================================== HP Channel Partner Allaire Alliance Partner Microsoft ClubWin - Team One
