Mike,

I appreciate the sentiment behind posting this, but it's considered bad
netiquette to post binaries to a mailing list for three reasons:

1) Some people pay for bandwidth, so unsolicited binaries cost them
money regardless of whether they're of use or not. Apologizing to them
ahead of time is not as productive as refraining from sending the
information in the first place.
2) Some people use old mailers that are not capable of decoding the
binary attachments
3) Many people (myself included) receive the mailing list content in
digest form. When your message is included in the digest I get pages of
garbage such as below.

If you wish to make a binary available to the members of the list, it's
much more polite to post it to a web server or FTP site somewhere and
then post the URL to the list. This allows each recipient to choose
whether or not they wish to receive the file. If someone on the list
does not have access to either a browser or FTP (I find this unlikely,
but possible), they could still get a copy by requesting one from you
directly.

Thanks,

Rob
