We are in the midst of this same project. We have a personnel system built in-house and will capture id verification from whatever unit we purchase. Right now we have a Fingerprint Identification Unit from IOSoftware and got our hands on their in-house time & attendance package. We of course will just use it to create a text file and upload it to the HP and apply it to our database. Will probably use Reflections scripting to do most of the work. Our Personnel system is tightly integrated with our Job Costing system and Inventory system. So far the fingerprint things are working pretty well, they just require a PC for each one. I will just have the PC at pre-determined times, FTP the file or just save it to a network drive where another program will grab it and post to the HP. Well now all that didn't answer anything now did it. Well I must have had an email attack. ------------- Original Text From "Ted Ashton" <[log in to unmask]>, on 3/19/98 1:39 PM: Greetings one and all, I've just found out that we're installing a new time-clock system and the decision as to which has just about been made. They're leaning heavily toward a pc-based system (Chronos). Of course all our accounting is done on the HP, so the HR information would have to be downloaded to the PC and the work hours uploaded every week. Yuck. Is there any system out there which ties directly into a 3000? In all the mathematics that I did, the essential point was to find the right architecture. It's like building a bridge. Once the main lines of the structure are right, then the details miraculously fit. The problem is the overall design. -- Dyson, Freeman
