Just out of curiosity, I often look at the original transmission date and
compare it to my reception date. Vlad's message now has the honor of taking
the longest time to get to me of any e-mail that I've yet to receive (but only
by one day; the previous record was 7.5 days -- and a great deal of it is
taking four or five days).

His date of origination was:

> Date: Thu, 23 Oct 1997 22:33:00 -0400

while my date of reception was:

> Date: 97-11-01 18:50:41 -0400

thus making the time-in-transit of his e-mail message, 8 days, 20 hours, 17
minutes, 41 seconds -- a new record. This new age of instantaneous electronic
communication is beginning to make the US Post Office look good.
