My consoles are 700/96 and 700/92. The power to the console is auto-switching. Check on the rear of the console to see if both 110 and 220 are mentioned. As long as you have no fuses to 110, you can unplug the console from the 110 outlet and connect it to the UPS with the proper cable. I just bought my 1.8 KVA UPS and a new PDU (power distribution strip). I plugged the PDU into the UPS. I plug everything else (console and all) into the PDU or the rear UPS outlets. The UPS is plugged into a 220 outlet. The only device that I had that was not auto-switching was the 7980SX. With it you unplug from 110. Remove the fuse from under the power cord and flip it 180 degrees to plug it back in. This changes it to 220 volts. Plug the 7980 into the PDU and it's on the UPS. I would like to use the HP-supplied UPS to power the system console (which is 110), but all the UPS produces is 220. Can anybody out there tell me what did you do with your system console? The UPS and the rackmount only have C13 output receptacles, not the "normal" wall outlet types. Besides, the C13's only supply 220 so I can't use them as is anyway. So, if anyone has a system with the A2996A UPS, and a 220 system (like the 918), please tell me what you did with your system console. And if anyone from HP is following this, tell me, isn't the system console considered as part of the system? And isn't the UPS supposed to provide power for the "system" so I can perform an orderly system shutdown? If so, then why can't I power the system console from the UPS? And if I can power the console from the UPS, please explain how to do it. Thanks in advance. Jim Phillips Manager of Information Systems E-Mail: [log in to unmask] Therm-O-Link, Inc.
