With the recent thread of HP3000 success stories I decided to share one that I had today. I walked in this morning and noticed across the console of our 959/400 "*RECOVERY FROM POWERFAIL*". I'm thinking "Darn! I'll have to restart the full backup all over again". We are using BACKUP/3000 from Orbit Software so fortunately I could restart the backup and just let it run on-line. Well I checked the $STDLIST and it was waiting for me mount the next volume. On a whim I did mount the next volume and the backup continued on! Granted the power was out only for a couple of minutes and the backup was waiting for the next volume when the power died but it was still very nice to have the backup pick up where it left off. While I can not be sure, I believe the 959/400 with it's internal UPS would have kept the backup going even though the tape drive was active (which was not our case last night). I would also think that our 957 would have kept the backup running with it's internal battery if the tape drive was idle (I almost wish I could have tested that last night). It is great to have such good products as HP to keep the backups up and running. --------------------------------------------------------------- Barry Durand "The opinions expressed in this Systems Engineer II email are not necessarily the Gulf South Health Plans opinions of my employer" [log in to unmask] ---------------------------------------------------------------
