Hi All and John in particular :) With Tongue firmly in Cheek :) Ok, as an Infantry Sergeant that also works with DOIMS (Dept of Information Management Systems...Pronounced "Dooms") (very appropriate if you ask me heheheh ) I need to point some things out :) Michael: In the military we don't refer to weapons as "guns" see the lyrics for the Marine Corp "Jody" for explaination :) hehehe John: I have been to several of the type of briefings that you describe :) they can be boring as H*** with the only fun being watching the civilians reactions to the armed guards :) For those who want to see an example of a "open" military site complete with standardized warnings go to the following web site :) WWW.BENNING.ARMY.MIL It is also a neat site in my opinion :) but I am biased :) after all I turned blue there 9 years ago :) heheheh Art "Just put another service stripe on! Can it be 9 years already?" Bahrs hehehe <--- Just for Lee Gunter! A short Tag line :) >>> John Korb <[log in to unmask]> 03/13/97 12:17pm >>> Regarding: >"Official documents" are a source of urban legends second only to Ann Landers >and Paul Harvey. I guess I'm just gullible, but when about 20 people are brought to a theatre, a 1/4" thick document with an official seal is handed to each person as they enter the theatre, and a variety of military, civil service, and NIS people impart various security edicts, I tend to take them seriously. The Navy project has moved twice since "the lecture" and any document over five years old is automatically sent to an archive (documents 2-5 years old often get archived when there is a move) so the original document is probably not on site, but perhaps the latest security manual references the 1/4" document we received (official documents have a serial number which can be used to track them). I will make a point of checking the security manual tomorrow. If it it contains the reference numbers for the preceeding documents, I'll pass along those identifying numbers and anyone interested can look into obtaining them (freedom of information act), as I'm positive that the document we received was stamped UNCLASS.
