Paul Christensen <[log in to unmask]> writes about tier pricing and an example of a small site not wanting to pay the 'one price fits all' non-tiered cost for our software. ... <snip> > They see it as way to much money to spend on just a program editor, > that none of their users will use, only me the programmer will use it. ... <snip kind things about Qedit and unkind things about vi> <major plug> We've seen this situation before, and our response is to offer a 2-user license of Qedit for about a quarter of the regular price. </major plug> Each vendor has to come to terms with how they price their goods. Their customers (or lack of them) will be the ones to determine how successful their policies are. I really can't see HP exerting any pressure on vendors. HP doesn't have that kind of power and it's so, dare I say, un-american. /paul (probably sorry he waded into this thread) Paul Gobes, Tech Support Mgr. phone: 888-ROBELLE fax: (604) 582-1700 http://www.robelle.com/~paul email: [log in to unmask]
