Last year I upgraded our Netserver 486 LM by adding a 4gb drive to the 2 existing 1gb drives, all of which were connected to the on-board SCSI controller. I had nothing but problems. Apparently, the new drive was transferring data a much higher rate and when I tried copying large files from drive to drive it would make the server ABEND. I added a second SCSI controller card and moved the 4gb drive onto it and haven't had a problem since. >>> <[log in to unmask]> 01/07/97 02:43pm >>> I have a HP Netserver "LC" 486 EISA DX4-100 Mhz PC. I need to replace the 1 Gig hard drive with a new or refurbished drive. I want a drive that is in the 2-4 Gig range. On the mother board is an Adaptec 2740 controller that supports SCSI-II. Any non-HP solutions out there that work? In PC Today magazine I found: VENDOR #MEGS MODEL# msec PRICE Meg/sec ======= ===== ====== ==== ===== ======= Seagate 2.1 32151N 7.0 $469.
