Workaround was to go to the printer via JetAdmin 'directly', bypassing the Netware queues. Worked fine on the low-volume printer in question, don't know if it would cause contention, or grief over queue- jumping, on a busier one. Apparently, WIN95 was setting a bit in the header packet(s) which WIN 3.x didn't. 'Real' Netware doesn't care, but Portable Netware was trying to act differently because of it, and hurting itself. Anyway, HP fixed the problem. We tried it and it works, (though I still use 'direct' because you can't stop banners being printed via Netware). But are you saying that the problem has come back in 5.5, and this time HP say it can't be fixed? -- Roy Brown Phone : (01684) 291710 Fax : (01684) 291712 Affirm Ltd Email : [log in to unmask] The Great Barn, Mill Street 'Have nothing on your systems that you do not TEWKESBURY GL20 5SB (UK) know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.'
