<<a) After I telnet to the telnet access card in a DTC, does it look to me like I have a telnet connection to the HP3000, or do I then have a DTC prompt and I connect to the host of my choice, or are both methods support (similar to a "regular" DTC connection)?>> None of the above-sort of; but mostly the first. Basically, the TAC acts as an invisible translator between the client and the 3000. As far as the client is concerned, it is talking to the 3000; actually, it is talking to the TAC using an "alias" IP address that the TAC recognizes; the TAC answers up to this address, converts the data to AFCP, and sends it to the 3000 just like any other DTC traffic. <<b) How many telnet connections can I have per telnet access card?>> The original limit was 40; I don't know if later software updates have changed this or not. <<c) What versions of MPE will permit me to connect to the HP3000 via the telnet access card?>> Pretty far back; we've been using our TAC since MPE/XL 3.0 or so. Theoretically, any version of MPE that supports DTCs should support a TAC. Steve Dirickson WestWin Consulting (360) 598-6111 [log in to unmask]
