>Page 2-1 of the 5.5 communicator states: >"To update or install MPE/ix Release 5.5 (C.55.00), your system must >already be on the MPE/ix 4.0 (B.40.00) or the MPE/ix 5.0 General >Release(C.50.xx)." The comment about install was not intended to be humorous! I took the time to read the communicator, and interpreted the above as: you must have 4.0 or 5.0 to install from the 5.5 tapes. This is an important issue as it is a DRAMATIC departure from past releases! We have assisted many sites in updating to 5.0. This was via purchase of new disk drives and installation of 5.0 versus updating. This is a good way of testing the new version before committing. The old disks are still attached, so a start norecovery would get you back. It also can improve performance and save money because new disks have a warranty period, and are much less expensive to put under maintenance. So is the communicator correct?
