John, We've just ordered LaserROM, so we're eagerly anticipating seeing some of the problems recounted of late on this list ... (NOT!!). HP did announce at HP World '96 (and somewhat demonstrated) the newly reworked CD Documentation product (may not be called LaserROM??). Promises are it'll be more Windows-friendly, more printer-friendly and with greater search and bookshelf capabilities. But, guess which platform it's going to roll out for first? It ain't MPE! Burke * EMC.Ver #2.5.1 ] -- There have been a number of posts in the past about missing documentation on the MPE/iX LaserROM CD-ROMs. I am working to get a response from HP about missing documentation - when I do, I will post it here. I have a question for the group first about the usability of the LaserROM software. I've been using it for 2 years or so and while the search function seems to work fine and I have used it often with good results, the software frequently hangs if I just try to open a document for reading (for example, the Communicators). I assumed that since I had a fairly old PC with Win3.1, etc., and that I had never seen any complaints on HP3000-L, that it was my PC. However, I recently acquired a 133mhz PC with 16MB RAM, a 1.6GB disk and 6x CD-ROM drive with Win95 pre-installed. You guessed it, HP LaserROM continues to hang in the same fashion. Has anyone else had the same experience? John Burke [log in to unmask]
