Stan after Terry and I forget who else: >> See you all in Anahiem. And no snide remarks >> about the way I'll be walking after a 3000 mile ride. >Better than after a 9000 mile ride! >Oops. This and other recent postings leading up to HP World somehow cause me to remember a line from Shakespeare; something out of Julius Ceasar about Cassius Longinus that I recall as: "Methinks yon Cassius has a lean and hungry look." (my apoligies to Shakespeare purists if I didn't get that correct right down to the last letter; I don't have Julius Ceasar at the office; long time since I read it.) Seems to me that going into HP World many in the HP 3000 user community are not despondent or resigned; they have that lean and hungry look, anticipating what HP senior managers are going to say about the platform and OS they have committed their businesses to. ..... They could perhaps start by clearly stating that MPE/iX is a strategic OS for the next century, along with HP-UX and NT. Whether or not they are willing to say that will say a lot. It has been pointed out that IBM is going all-out to sell and support AS/400's. By most accounts HP has a technical leg up on the AS/400 with the 3000. It remains to be seen if and to what extent HP as a corporation can come up with the collective will to push their technical advantage and compete with IBM.... Ken Sletten
