I would like first to thank all who took the time and trouble to respond to my request. This list is an incredible resource. Thanks to: Bill Hassell <[log in to unmask]> Tom Henning <[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask] (George R. Wells 502-452-7815) "Guy Fortin P3354" <[log in to unmask]> tom_coates <[log in to unmask]> David Willard <[log in to unmask]> and two other individuals whose e-mails I have misplaced. The basic problem that I faced, being able to restrict certain ftp users to specific directory structures, can be handled by the ftpd daemon which ships with hp-ux. But only if that directory structure exists under the anonymous ftp directory. Unfortunately this is not true in my case and a restructuring of the existing directories, while not impossible, would have been a major undertaking to accomplish a small benefit. However, the wu-ftpd version 2.4.2b11 looks very promising and has built in virtual domain functionality. This looks like the solution for us. I will post again if something turns up to prevent our using it. The source may be obtained from the following anonymous ftp site: > ftp://ftp.academ.com/pub/wu-ftpd/private/wu-ftpd-2.4.2-beta-11.tar.Z Regards, and again many thanks. -- James B.
