Bill, thanks for the info. Got number 1 all straightened out. However, I'm having difficulty getting anything to happen when printing from a PC. > : 2) the printer is currently connected to an HP3000/928. can this printer > : be connected to a PC or PC network? If so, what driver should be used, > : and are there any settings that need to be set on the printer itself? > : Will a standard serial cable work? > > A standard cable will work. Unfortunately, all you can print is ASCII > from a DOS prompt. There are no PC drivers for these printers. I have a standard serial cable connecting COM2 of a PC to the printer. According to the self test on the printer, it is configured for: Baud Rate: 9600 Monitor Modem: NONE Chars Stripped: NULLS/DELETES Protocol: XON/XOFF CTS Line: IGNORED DTR Mode: NORMAL Parity: NONE I have tried to match the serial settings of the PC to the printer by using the MODE command (and also tried using Netware to print as well) but have had no luck. I cannot locate any documentation on the settings for functions 20-29 for the serial interface, either. I'm not 100% sure what to use on the PC side for data bits and stop bits. In terms of compatibility, we are looking to be able to print text only. Our goal is to assign this printer to a Netware queue, and have an LPD redirector receive printouts from the HP3000 and direct them to the printer through LPD. We have the HP->LPD->Netware->Laser Printer setup working fine with Minisoft's NP92 product, but are hoping to put the 2563 on the LAN instead of a Laserjet. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!
