I just had a brief look at the patch setup/installation process. While it beats nothing, it isn't exactly pretty, mainly for the support that was included for e-mail only customers (thank you for including that, I'm not suggesting you remove it) but at first glance it doesn't look like it helps the directly-connected and/or dialup customers that much. The patch distribution is via a MOVER truck file (A.00.02, so unless you have access to jazz, could be a problem). And it is a straightforward mover truck file (which can be reduced considerably by Posix compress). [Sometime later we, as a group, should agree on a standard distribution format that ideally retains MPE attributes AND minimizes output file size] If I could make a constructive suggestion, if the "new" patches follow the same format as they have in the past, then please supply the "common" files on the FOS and then you won't have to include them in your patch trucks. For example, AUTOPAT [old format] and the custom linkedit and other files which are shipped with all patches. The patch file should only consist of the files unique to that patch, and "assume" the common utilities are present. If not, you can provide a downloadable "patch skeleton" with the usual goods (autopat, patcheck <sp?>, and the special linkedit, segmenter, and other files not directly related to the patch). This is intended as constructive criticism; I have high-speed net access so I personally don't care how you package them :-) I can however can relate to the dialup users - minimize their download times A promising start to a great resource.
