Pat - These arrays are marvelous devices - we've increased our uptime drastically by using these and implementing user volume sets. However, we are now I/O-bound because of them. HP recommends no more than five of these devices per HP-FL channel ... I'd personally bet no more than two on a large system!! We're probably going to need some consulting help to find some solutions to this problem ourselves [no fax/e-mail blizzard, please, all you consulting types out there!! ;-) ] ======================================= Lee Gunter [log in to unmask] HMO Oregon ======================================= ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Performance degradation w/HA drives Author: Pat Vaske <[log in to unmask]> at ~INTERNET Date: 1/17/96 8:57 AM We recently installed a 967 with HA (C2254HA &c2252HA) drives. It also has 10MB of SCSI running on it. The 967 of itself runs much faster than the 947 we replaced but once we introduced the HA arrays the systems seems to come to its knees. Glance show that the HA are responsible for the degradation. Does anyone know of a "tweek" in the operating system that will resolve this? Is it possible that we need 2 FL channels iinstead of the one we have installed? This only represents 8 1.3GB drives!!?? but.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. PLV
